There was a fabulous atmosphere as everyone enjoyed the perfect weather for the event. Our guests had the perfect position for viewing the moon rise…from their balconeys. Eastern Water Dragon colony in Mooloolaba

Eastern Water Dragon Colony in Mooloolaba There is a colony of Eastern Water Dragons living in the park just across the road from Northwind Beachfront Apartments. These fascinating creatures go largely un-noticed by the hundreds of people walking along the pathway leading up and over the Alex Headland. The dragon is a medium to large lizard which can grow up to 80 cm in length, including their long tail. They have large heads, with a row of spines beginning on the head and leading down along their back. These spines get smaller as they continue down the spine as they reach...

Peregrine falcons at Northwind

Peregrine falcons at Northwind October 2014: We have a family of falcons nesting on our roof top. The evidence is seen on the ground every day with bits of lorikeets and other birds lying around the BBQ area and the pool. These are gruesome reminders that falcons are great hunters and live off other creatures. The juvenile somehow found its way to one of our gardens and spent quite some time looking around and preening itself. It did not appear to worried by people walking past and allowed them to get close. A couple of hours after the photos and video...

October newsletter

October newsletter 2014 September has been  very busy here at Northwind. A shelter has been built over the BBQ and outdoor tables and is proving a hit with holiday makers. No more dealing with pesky umbrellas!  We also had the last of the old archway removed from the main entry and a new sign put in place at the front. The sign has caused some discussion as it is markedly different from other signage around town. Manager Andrew had a wonderful experience when he went out with the Sunreef team to swim with the whales. The group of whales they...
