August Newsletter 2015 Pacific Pearl visit, community market, pizza and donuts

Newsletter August 2016

We have had a lovely time over the last month or so greeting many of our return guests. We judge the passage of time here by who is staying and when they leave.

Pacific Pearl visit to Mooloolaba

The Pacific Pearl cruised into Mooloolaba and had the good sense to moor just in front of Northwind so our guests had a great view of all the comings and goings during the day.

The Wharf Community Market
The Wharf Community Market on the Wharf each Friday afternoon has been revitalized, with more stalls and with more of the Wharf shops staying open. Our week would not be complete without popping down to the market to get our yogurt from Gordon, and chatting with Pablo as we select our fruit and vegetables. Andrew enjoys a wood-fired pizza from time to time and it is always hard to go past Fudgees without checking the quality of their home-made rocky road. The Edge has a market special each Friday and we can say the fish, chips and salad meal at $10.00 is brilliant.
Augellos’ celebrating its twentieth year
Augello’s has been celebrating its twentieth anniversary. This award winning Italian restaurant is a must if you have not already been there. They do gluten free pizza and pasta and as we’ve said before the crème brulee is wonderful.
Churros, American Hotdogs, New Zealand ice cream and gluten free donuts.
Another food discovery has been Cheery Churros on River Esplanade, near the Surf Club. This wee shop has New Zealand icecream by the scoop, freshly made churros, deep fried Oreo cookies, spiral spuds,  American hotdogs, gluten free donuts (freshly made crispy outside light inside and covered with cinnamon sugar) and more. Stacey and her family are proving a hit with their fresh, made to order  treats.
Cruise Maroochy Eco Cruises
Cruise Maroochy takes passengers on the Maroochy River. They offer passengers an insight into the variety of bird life on the river ecosystem. Shorty knows the river well. During the trip you  get to hear stories about locals and the locality. Andrew went on a cruise with them last week and thoroughly enjoyed the outing (and the great food).
Sunshine Coast Choral Society Concert
On August 9th The Sunshine Coast Choral Society concert at the Lake Kawana Community Centre will include a work by local composer Jennifer Carr. Before the concert there will be an opportunity to meet the Composer and get some insights into her composing. Conductor Adrian King will also be there to provide insights into the preparation for the world premier of a choral work. It is included in the ticket price.
