The humble meat pie
Meat pies. Since being diagnosed as having coeliac disease, Jennifer has been seeking a tasty meat pie, with pastry with the right taste and texture, as close to a ‘normal’ pie as possible. Well, here on the Coast we have the amazing Beefys Pies. The owner has developed an amazing pastry that makes eating pies a pleasure for Coeliacs! The gluten free meat pies and sausage rolls are award winning and delicious!. Three shops that will interest you for stocking up are at Buderim, Aussie World shops and the newest on Aerodrome Road, Maroochydore. They also have a wide range of baked goods including cakes, slices, scones and pies that are not gluten free. It’s worth getting in to see what’s there.
Cinema complex changes.
There are some big changes happening at the Sunshine Plaza, including upgrades to the Birch, Carroll and Coyle cinema complex: new carpet, a new candy bar with an expanded menu, and new leather ‘flick-up chairs’ are just some of the changes. The work will be completed in stages during November and ready for the December school holidays. So, if there is a rainy day during the holidays, you can enjoy the new look cinemas at the Plaza.
Top ten dining in Mooloolaba
Spice Bar, right next tp us here at Northwind, has come in at 7th on Trip Advisor’s 10 Best Restaurants in Australia for 2016. The restaurant has a growing loyal clientele and we have had had bookings for dedicated foodies all over Australia who come to Mooloolaba specifically to experience Spice Bar’s high-class Asian fusion cuisine, which is so suited to the Sunshine Coast climate. This is really a great place to celebrate a special occasion. It is best to book so you are not disappointed.
JADE Australia is a Mooloolaba institution. This Australian owner family company designs a unique, vibrant range of ladies’ shoes, handbags, wallets and jewellery. They have an emphasis on style, glamour, comfort and the latest fashion trends. They have operated from the Mooloolaba showroom on River Esplanade, just behind the Surf Club for over 15 years. Check out their showroom the next time you’re in town. The showroom is full of colour and style.
Christmas Boat Parade
The Christmas Boast Parade is one of our favourite events at Christmas time here in Mooloolaba. There is nothing quite like claiming a spot canal-side late afternoon on the day of the parade and watching the dozens of decorated water-craft go by. Everything from entry-level tinnies through to massive catamarans, fishing boats, kayaks, SUPs, outriggers, single masted small yachts, jet boats and more. Crew and passengers get dressed up for the occasion and it’s good fun all round. This year it is on the 17th December. Get a picnic organised or get on board Whale One’s new ‘Wild One’ and be part of the action as you sail past the fabulously lit houses on the canals. Dress up for the event and enjoy snacks and refreshments on this two hour cruise.
